Kent is located in the southeast of England and it borders East Sussex, Surrey, Greater London, and Essex.

Because of the many orchards loacted in Kent, the county is referred to as "The Garden of England" – a name often applied when marketing the county or its produce.

Outside Kent are London Gatwick and London Heathrow, which are two of the busiest airports in the world. Kent has a nominal border with France halfway through the Channel Tunnel. France can be seen clearly in fine weather from Folksetsone and the iconic white cliffs of Dover.

Kent's location between London and the continent, has led to its being in the front line of several conflicts, including the Battle of Britain during World War 2.
